In about 370 BC is conventionally placed the beginning of a new phase of the apulian production, characterized by a greater expansion of the products diffusion, in addition to a progressive system of workshops in indigenous areas. From the decorative standpoint the production is characterized by a canonized language, in which are common depictions with Dionysiac and funeral scenes.
We distinguish some emerging figures, including the Ilioupersis Painter (370-350 BC), whose figurative innovations soon became hallmarks of the apulian school, such as the custom of decorating the necks of craters with female heads within floral goblets and features depictions of characters grouped around the temples, stelae or funerary pillars, as in the case of this hydria.
Corpo ceramico arancio nocciola, vernice nera, coprente e compatta; suddipinture in bianco.
