Attic red-figure bell krater

The preparation and consumption of wine were the main functions to which the Attic vases were intended. However, were not simple containers, but real vehicles of images and the depiction of the symposium, the occasion for which they were created, occupies an important place among the illustrated topics.

On one side there is a symposium scene: three guests are liening on two klinai with cloaks, while a young man is standing nacked, a slave. Everyboody are wearing a crown of leaves or flowers. Under the klinai, on some tables, there are some vessels, while two of the guests are bringing a kylix, a cup for drinking wine.
