This beautiful large kylix is an interesting example of a female life scene: in the central round and on the outer wall of the cup are depicted twelve women, some standing and others sitting, intent to prepare the instruments or play them.
A lyra, a barbitos (similar to the lyra, but with a deeper sound) and an aulos, a wind instrument, are depicted. We have various and similar representations, with women dancing or playing instruments, or reading a papyrus or expressing themselves in spectacles and domestic shows. Those scenes explain something about women education and daily life.
