Nekao, who lived probably between the end of the 26th and the beginning of the 27th dynasty, is known to scholars through a rich series of monuments that allow to reconstruct for three generations the family tree of his family of high dignitaries.
The fragmentary statue shows Nekao in an attitude of prayer among the simplest and most common in the Late Period between the statues intended to temples. Nekao is kneeling, sits on his heels, leaning upright to a dorsal pillar and holds open hands on the thighs, in a gesture of ecstatic worship in the presence of a deity.
