In Egyptian religion Isis plays a particularly important role as sister and wife of Osiris, the god who was killes by his brother Seth, becames the lord of the afterlife and bequeaths to his son Horus the power on earth.
Countless bronze figures of Isis nursing her son Horus exist from the later periods of ancient Egypt.
This statuette of Isis is seated on a throne, now missing. The goddess is wearing an unadorned, tight-fitting robe and is holding Horus's head in her right hand, while offering her left breast with the other.
Isis is wearing a necklace ushek type, with gold inlays, a wig and a uraeus crown topped with a solar disk placed between two cow horns.
