The column, of which is preserved the base, was of ionic type, crossed by 24 grooves and, considering the extent of the base diameter, had to be high more than seven meters.
Oerhaps it was part of the Basilica's of Bononia colonnade. A ionic capital with another column were part of the same building, and datable to augustan period, while the building had been restored. In the late antiquity pices of the Basilica were removed and employed as construction materials. One of the capitels is now in the Santo Stefano's Basilica.
