The pyx (pyxix in greek) was a round box with lid, used to contain cosmetics and toiletry items for women. Within some pyxes were indeed found traces of cosmetics and the representations are often linked to scenes of female life.
The body of the pyx is decorated with lotus flowers, while on the part on the top, like a cover, two figures hanging each other are depicted. Next to them, there are three charcters and a dog.
