Silver denarius of Ottavianus Augustus

On this denarius issued by the mint of Rome, between 29 and 27 BC, appears a beautiful portrait of Gaius Julius Caesar Octavian Augustus (Rome 63 BC - Nola 14 AD); adopted by Julius Caesar and nominated heir of much of his patrimony, Ottaviano was the first Roman emperor and obtained the title of Augustus in 27 BC.

On the obverse the legend IMP(erator) CAESAR and the image of the Curia Iulia, building rebuilted by Caesar in 44 BC, above the old part of Curia Hostilia and Curia Cornelia.
