On the obverse appears the frontal portrait of the nymph Larissa, heroine of Thessaly, from which took the name many cities of the land. Larissa is sometimes remembered as the mother of Pelasgus, born from the union with Zeus or Poseidon, other times as a daughter of Pelasgus.
On the reverse side there is a horse with the left paw up, which remembers daily life moments. In Thessaly there were lot of horses livestocks and its animals were desiderd by emperors and foreign commanders. The legend, partly conserved, indicates the city of the mint. Details are well refined, while the nymoh face seems roughly depicted.
