A series of marble sculptures are part of the Greek collection coming almost exclusively from collections and, unfortunately, for the most part devoid of indication about the location and characteristics of the discovery.
Are votive or funeral reliefs, both Greek and Roman, sculptures to all round largely replicas and roman reworkings of greek works, although there are some original, both Greek and Roman.
The subjects of the sculptures, their function and qualitative level are various and offer a broad overview of the artistic production of the classical world. Next to replicas of worship statues (Athena Lemnia, Artemis Ephesia, Aphrodite of Aphrodisias), there are small herms and statues of divinity with decorative function, Greek portraits and furniture elements of environments or gardens of private houses. Some of the works, mostly with a decorative nature, are related definitely to roman workers who worked for a client desirous to own reworkings of Greek works. If the most remarkable pieces are those derived from Hellenistic works, there are however reworkings of Greek works of the V and IV century BC.
