Roman and Greek authors have passed down the name of Etruscan Bologna: Felsina, Etruria’s capital of the Po valley.
The presence of the Etruscans in Bologna dates back to the 9th century BC, when the civilisation was still forming and in Italy was based mostly in Tuscany and Lazio, with a lesser presence in Romagna and Campania.
The large room X in the museum displays the grave goods found in Etruscan tombs in Bologna and the surrounding area. Through the presentation of the most significant items, visitors may explore the development of Etruscan Felsina through the course of over five centuries of history.
