Starting from the Middle Kingdom whoever had the economic resources to build himself a statue in his own name or his image, had the freedom to place even within the sacred templar areas. In this way its owner participated in eternal to the cult of the divinity adored in the temple, enjoyed the devotion of the faithfuls and availed oneself of offers made to the sanctuary, trusting in the perspective of eternal life together with God.
The statue of the dignitary Amenhotep belongs to this type.
