The relief shows the preparations for a celebration in honour of Horemheb, general commander of the army.

More info

In the upper scene, on the left an officer accompanied by a scribe and an Egyptian armed with a baton oversees two men being trained to race. On the right in the same register, and again under a scribe’s watchful eye, servants are preparing wine for libations. In the lower portion, various storemen are arranging large quantities of food. We can easily identify round loaves, amphorae of wine, the fruit of the doum palm enclosed in bulk bags made of netting, hunks of meat, gourds and bunches of leeks that, appearing in various parts of the relief, seem to be a leitmotif in this representation.
