Pendant shaped like a bunch of grapes with longitudinal loop

More info

According to Egyptian mythology, viticulture is a gift of god Osiris. In Egypt it is testified since the Early Dynastic period up until the end of Pharaohs’ era, and afterwards. The main areas for vine growing have been localised predominantly to west of the country, in both the delta of the Nile and the largest oases in the Libyan Desert. Written sources, iconographical and archaeological testimonies provide documentary evidence of the import and production of different varieties of wine, which were widely consumed and appreciated during the New Kingdom. This pendant dates back to the same period. Almost certainly it was part of a colourful breastplate with ornamental function, perhaps with other vegetal elements.
