Papyrus with "neo Egyptian miscellany"

The papyrus has “Neo-Egyptian miscellany”, a series of texts (letter models, descriptions of cities, hymns to the gods, lists of rare or difficult words, and so on) used in the Egyptian schools of the New Kingdom (1539–1075 BC) to educate young people and train them to work as scribes.

More info

This miscellany, in the name of Ba-en-Ra Mery-Amon, is written in a beautiful hieratic script and dates to the “year 8, third month of the season of Akhet, day 29” of the “king of Upper and Lower Egypt, lord of the Two Lands” Merenptah (1213–1204 BC), son and successor of Ramses II (1279–1213 BC). Like similar works, it is important for studying educational techniques and the ideology imparted to young people through school, and it hands down models of letters, a hymn to Amon-Ra and a list of deities.
