Nets like this one, made up of blue faïence beads and tubes laced into thin cloth strips in order to create a lozenge mesh, could cover a mummy to protected it and guarantee its eternal survival.
In the upper part of this specimen a few amulets are inserted; these are a winged scarab and four funeral genies. The latter ones, sons of god Horus, were meant to protect the organs removed from the body during the mummification procedure. The human-headed Amset protected the liver, the jackal-headed Duamutef the stomach, the baboon-headed Hapi the lungs and the falcon-headed Qebeksenuf the intestines.
