The group portrays the family of the “sculptor of Amon” Mainekhet, accompanied by his wife Ameneminet, his sons Thutmosis and Pascedu, and his daughter Henuttaneb. A fourth son, named Kheref, is mentioned only in the hieroglyphic inscription that surrounds the five figures portrayed in very high relief.
The sculpture, thought to be the work of Mainekhet himself, shows the deft use of colour, a balanced sense of composition in exploiting the different heights of the figures, the affectionate linking of arms, and simple garments and hair, often in the form of nudity and completely shorn heads.
