Etruscan-Corinthian alabastron

This vase, destined to contain perfumes and unguents, is part of the vast production of Corinthian pottery imitation flourished in the southern etruscan area with the transfer of potters and painters from the same city of Corinth in the Etruscan centers of Vulci, Veii and Cerveteri.

This vase was clearly inspired by the motifs of Corinthian figured production, with the traditional facing animals. However, here they are repeated with a style and technique devoid of innovation that reflects a monotonous and repetitive production intended for a broader clientele.


Its function was to contain perfumes, oils and unguents.
