Places / Exhibition rooms / Room XII - Roman Bologna

The city was founded in 189 BC after the long fight agains gallic people. The objects in this section come from the urban area and necropolis of the roman city of Bononia.

In the past three decades important building works and the completion of new infrastructures have permitted the systematic archaeological exploration of vast areas once occupied by the Roman city. This has made it possible to sketch out a clearer and more accurate picture of the city layout as well as its urbanistic and architectural aspects.
