Archaeological Museum of Bologna

Cloakroom

There is a cloakroom by the museum’s entrance.
Entry to the museum is not permitted with bags, backpacks, umbrellas and cumbersome objects; these personal objects may be left in the special lockers. The cloakroom does not accept large suitcases, bags and parcels.

QR codes

The QR (“quick response”) service provides information, photographs and videos concerning one of the museum’s works using a mobile phone, smartphone, tablet or similar device, if equipped with a camera, internet connection and a QR reader (which can easily be downloaded without cost). Once the reader has been launched and the QR code caught within the range of the camera, the device will automatically display the relevant information via a simple connection to the Internet.

Approximately 100 works have been “tagged” with a QR file.

MuseOn

App available in iOS and Android versions, which is being implemented with routes dedicated to all museums of the Istituzione Bologna Musei. To download it, please visit:museon.it/bolognamusei/

Photographs

Traditional and digital photographs, video and film are permitted so long as no flash or other lighting be used, and solely for personal, non-commercial use.
Distribution and publication of any images acquired using the above-mentioned means is forbidden.
The museum bookshop offers postcards and other items, but it is also possible to purchase photographs of the works on display, by sending a request to the museum’s Photographic Archive. These requests should be sent in writing to the attention of the director of the Museo Civico Archeologico di Bologna.

Groups

Groups and schools intending to visit the museum must book their arrival using the online service. For further information, there is a dedicated site (didatticabo.midaticket.it) in which it is also possible to book guided visits with archaeologists. For all educational activities, check out the pages dedicated to on this site.

The museum does not have catering space available for visiting school groups, but there are such spaces in the neighbourhood. For information and bookings:

ACCESS

The museum offers disabled access, with a lift for the basement and first floor.

The use of mobile phones for conversations is discouraged within the museum, to prevent disturbance to other visitors.

Animals are not admitted.
