Exhibition by Paola Giovetti and Anna Dore
Achaeological Museum of Bologna March, 10th - August, 19th
Along an ideal timeline from 1522, the year of Ulisse Aldrovandi’s birth, to 1944, the year of Pericle Ducati’s death, over 350 objects are arranged, characterized by the link with the main persons who contributed to the formation and the study of the collections of the Museum.
18 individuals set up the Gallery of the Ancestors of what is now the Civic Archaeological Museum of Bologna, really "Family Portraits", which are flanked by the stories of archaeological objects, the creation of the collections of the Museum, the history of Bologna and its lively cultural institutes. Leading the visitor along the path of development of the way of looking at the Antiquity, from the '600 up to the birth of archaeological science and modern structures of enhancement and protection, it will be discovered that an apparently marginal affair allows unexpected openings towards historical-political events , cultural, social.
A collective tale, that projects the city of Bologna into an Italian and European landscape, already starting from the 16th century.
